Methodology for leak detection

Mar. 11 2021

Our expertise in technical data management solutions is a fundamental factor in guaranteeing the sustainability of our programme.

Steps to detect fugitive emissions

Our aim is to deliver a high added-value service and the tools that will enable you to take effective action and optimise your process. In general, the Bureau Veritas methodology is split into three main steps.

Step 1 involves preparing the work programme:

  • Kick-off meeting
  • Network identification and review
  • Creation of database of equipment to test
  • Safety review, permitting

Step 2 involves the testing and identification of leaking equipment:

  • Search for leaks and failures on the applicable networks using technologies suited to each fluid carried.
  • Identification and recording of leaks on all equipment (valves, flanges, actuators, traps, etc.)

Step 3 involves the preparation of future maintenance work:

  • Preparation of a works file with image files
  • Production of a detailed mission report
